The novel, They Both Die at the End, by Adam Silvera is an incredibly emotional and sad story that teaches its readers many important life lessons.
The book starts with the separate introduction of its two main characters, Rufus Emeterio and Matteo Torrez. The two teenagers live in a sort of alternate world, in which a company named Death-Cast alerts people that they have approximately 24 hours left to live.
On September 5th, Matteo and Rufus both receive a call a little after midnight that today will be their last day. Following this realization, the two strangers download an app that introduces them to each other, and they quickly become friends. Throughout the day, Rufus and Matteo realize what it’s like to truly live, and they each push each other outside of their comfort zone, allowing them to try new things that they never would have done alone. In one day, they live more than they have their entire life.
I would recommend this book, as it really puts into perspective what is important, and it encourages you to let go of your fears…because after all, you won’t be around forever.
