You Have A Match Review

Helene Horan '22

When Abby Day takes a DNA test, she only expects to find out that she has more Irish blood than her best friend. Instead, she discovers that she has a full-blooded sister. It turns out that Abby has an older sister who has been living just miles away from Abby her entire life – a sister her parents have kept secret. Together, Abby and her secret sister, Savvy, work to figure out why their parents kept such a big secret from them, while getting to know each other along the way. But the whole thing already seems to be a disaster – Abby is wild and doesn’t think before she acts, while Savvy is an avid rule-follower. Will Abby survive the summer with such conflicting personalities between the two and without her parents finding out that she knows their secrets?

I absolutely loved You Have a Match! This will be Emma Lord’s second published book, but both books of hers have gone above and beyond my standards; it makes me excited for whatever she writes next. This book is perfect for those looking for a read that will have them laughing and grinning the whole way through. The characters are hilarious – especially Abby and Finn. Lord executed the setting, characters, and pace perfectly. I would also recommend this book to fans of The Parent Trap or Switched at Birth. This book gets five out of five stars from me.

The book will be published on January 5th, 2021.
