New perspectives: Secret life of Pets

The Secret Life of Pets is an all-around good movie. The very star studded class of actors, headlined by Kevin Hart and Louis C.K, delivered the goods on this film. This movie is about what pets do after every day pet owners leave for school and/or work. This movie mainly is about how Max (played by Louis C.K.) and Duke (played by Eric Stonestreet) go on an adventure after they escape dangerous alley cats and animal control. They also encounter a very eccentric rabbit named Snowball (played by Kevin Hart). Snowball actually helps them escape animal control, however, he demands for Duke and Max to work for him and his crew full of animal set out to wreak havoc on the humans for abandoning their pets.

I feel that this movie is pretty well developed, as it touches on comedy that can actually be related across all ages. Adults can relate to some of the toilet humor that is evident throughout the movie, while younger kids can relate to the very goofy humor in the movie. The visual animation was very superb, as the special effects were created quite well throughout the movie. The voice cast was excellent, as each character’s voice was portrayed differently depending on the type of animal. I felt that they did a great job in matching the voice with the subsequent pet, such as Duke having a deep voice since he’s a Canine. Also, Gidget, played by Jenny Slate, had more of a high pitched voice since she was a female white Pomeranian.

Overall, I recommend this movie to other students alike and specially to pet owners. I feel that this concept is very relatable, as pet owners have always wondered if their pet acts abnormal when they aren’t around. I feel that this movie can be watched by all ages as this movie demonstrates comedy that can be enjoyed by both adults and younger kids. Ultimately, this movie isn’t the most memorable Pixar movie, however, it will for sure give you a good laugh. Brian Lynch did a wonderful job in writing this film. I feel the animation was up to par, as it wasn’t overdone nor was it underutilized. With the right expectations, I feel that this film is very enjoyable
