On October 27th, 2023, Taylor Swift released a re-recorded version of her 2014 album, 1989. This album was Taylor’s first entirely pop album when it came out ten years ago, so fans were extremely excited for Taylor’s version of this beloved album. This re-record most definitely did not disappoint, as it has all the energy and excitement of the original 1989.
Some of the vault tracks that come with the album are a different story, which adds complexity. These tracks, which include Say Don’t Go and Is It Over Now?, are more “sad” songs, offering fans another view into Taylor’s life at the time the original album was released. Additionally, these songs catered to those who might be going through a rough time in their life and maybe the upbeat songs just do not connect with them at the moment.
When comparing the two albums, we can see how much Taylor’s voice has matured and the re-recorded version of this album is by far my favorite. I already loved 1989, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) only increased that love. I recommend this album to everyone to listen to whenever, wherever, no matter your state of mind.
