Trina Basu – President
1. Why are you running for this position?
I want to lead the changes our school will face next year. It’s important to me that the transition is smooth, and students’ voices are heard.
2. What qualities do you have that make you stand out compared to other candidates?
I’ve been a dedicated member of Student Council since freshman year. I’ve also had two years of experience on Top 5 as Treasurer sophomore year and Recording Secretary junior year. The knowledge and experiences I’ve gained these past years have helped shape me into a better leader for this school.
3. What do you believe makes you a great student leader?
My idea of a leader is someone who thinks leadership is a two-way street, meaning that a leader can only lead well if they follow their group enough to understand its needs and work towards meeting them. Hence, I’m a hard-working problem-solver, dedicated to understanding and effectively meeting the needs of the student body.
4. If you win, what do you want your legacy to be at Township?
I’d want my legacy at Township to be that I helped make school a place where students are happy to go to every day. I will keep working towards making WTHS a place welcoming to all students.
5. Who has provided the most positive influence on your development as a leader?
Ms. Mason and Ms. Molloy, our Student Council advisors, have given me opportunities like no other to grow into the leader I am today. They welcomed me into Student Council, which has definitely been one of the best parts of my high school experience. Through Student Council and their guidance, I have learned so much about me and the kind of leader I strive to be. I hope that I’ve made them proud and continue to do so.
