Adriana Iacaruso – Corresponding Secretary
Why are you running for this position?
I feel that I have the experience as well as the creative, organizational, leadership, and dedication skills to succeed in this position. I want to use the social media as a gateway to get more student involvement in stuco events. I love designing ads, flyers, and putting videos together, so this position stood out to me. For stuco this past year, I have made many flyers for events that can be found on the social media pages, and I also edited videos, one being of the Mr. WT boys. I feel like this position fits my personality the best, and I know I would be able to bring my skills to this position to overall help the Top 5 and STUCO.
What qualities do you have that make you stand out as a leader?
Dedication, responsibility, reliability, sociable, and optimistic. I put 110% into everything that I do and will be fully dedicated to this position. I am very responsible, and I can be trusted to be charge of a task, or to lead something. I am very reliable, and you can always count on me to do whatever is needed, whenever. I am a very sociable, and feel comfortable talking to anyone, I love making new friends and working with new people. I am a very optimistic person, I always look on the bright side, and I spread positivity as a leader.
If you win, what would you try to accomplish?
My main goal would be to try and get more student involvement in stuco activities by using the social media pages. I would really use the social media platforms to share information and make things appealing for people to participate in. I would use social media to positively advertise our activities and events and to make them look fun, so that it encourages students to share with their friends and participate. I also would want to do stuco member features and show a lot of behind the scenes work that stuco does, on our social media platforms. Besides completing the tasks of the corresponding secretary position, I would work with the top 5 members to be the best team of leaders possible for the stuco and the school.
Who has provided the most positive influence on your development as a leader?
My dance teacher. My leadership skills started from a young age at my dance studio when I began student teaching and mentoring the younger dancers. My dance teacher always had confidence to lead the younger kids, and even now to lead the company as the vice president.
What’s one quote that has impacted your outlook on leadership and life?
“All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” by Walt Disney. A big part of being a good leader is being able to encourage the people you’re leading that they can do anything they put their mind to, and in order to encourage them you have to have that positive and confident mindset. I am a very optimistic person and set goals for my future. I like to have faith in myself and believe that I can do anything I put my mind to. I live by the idea that you must believe in yourself and have confidence in yourself to be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be.
