Trump – Looking Ahead
On Tuesday November 10th, 2016 the United States elected Donald Trump as the President of the United States. Some were happy and relieved that “Crooked Hillary” was defeated but others were scared and nervous for the future national security of our country.
If you are like me, you were scared. Should someone running to be in office with this much power make you scared? I hope not. That’s why I’m against Donald Trump.
In the 1980’s victims of Trumps abuse began speaking out. It started with a woman who said he “physically violated” her, then most recently was alleged to have “groped” women and treated them “like cattle.” I cannot recall a time a candidate for President had about 20 allegations of a form of rape against him/her.
This behavior is teaching future generations that this man yelling on the television, who we are all supposed to look up to, is right in the way he treats women. By categorizing them with their physical features and raiding their bodies instead of treating them like humans, young adults and susceptible minds will think this is okay. What will happen if this behavior becomes normalized?
It is not only his demeanor towards women that make me anti- Trump, it is also his views on issues such as reproductive rights and immigration.
Trump plans on changing health insurances so that birth control cannot be free. This form of contraception is arguably the most effective and he plans on making it not affordable for many Americans. Trump also has supported banning abortions. The birth control will be too expensive to be accessible to a middle class woman so then you accidentally got pregnant. You cannot afford your baby and need an abortion. Now what? His views on these topics make me scared for women across America as they soon will not own their own reproductive rights for their body.
Immigration is one the reason many Trump supporters are in favor of him. He has racist thoughts on almost any race that is not “white.” He has said in the past he plans on banning Muslims from entering the United States, but when confronted about this says it will only be “temporary” and gives no apology for using a stereotypical way of looking at such a sensitive topic.
What will happen when Trump is inaugurated into office on January 20, 2017? Will his promises to his supporters on immigration come true? Will women feel safe anymore? How will his racist and sexist views of American effect our Constitution?
