NHS Ceremony
Recognizing and honoring students here at Washington Township High School is very important. One way to do this is the Washington Township High School National Honor Society ceremony. Every year many new members are inducted into this program.
This year there was 112 new members inducted during the annual ceremony on Wednesday. For students to be inducted in this program they must have a grade point average of a 93. They also have to have shown some sort of service and leadership during high school and participate in at least two extracurricular activities throughout 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.
The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes well-rounded and intelligent high school students. The students show leadership and a great character. Students also must be available for five hours of free tutoring for students who ask for this service through the guidance office. Washington Township High School requires 10 hours per year to fulfill the annual service project requirement.
All students who participated were awarded certificates and medals. The seniors that are graduating will also be recognized at graduation as a National Honor Society member. Washington Township students say “being recognized for my hard work throughout the years is great; it shows me that hard work pays off.”
The ceremony was filled with successful students and proud parents.
