Big Hero 6
Big Hero 6 has captured millions of people’s hearts and revived movie goer’s inner child. Walt Disney Animation Studios has yet again produced another cinematic masterpiece. The PG rated movie is an action packed animated feature film that is sure to be loved by all ages.
The story takes place in a futuristic city known as San Fransokyo. The main character of the story, Hiro Hamada is a naturally brilliant 14 year old boy who has already graduated high school. Hiro’s older brother and best friend, Tadashi suspects that Hiro isn’t living up to his full potential.
Tadashi takes his brother to his college (San Fransokyo Institute of Technology) and tries to influence him to enroll. Hiro instantly falls in love with the school, and eventually gets accepted.
Suddenly disaster strikes and Hiro is tormented with grief. Tadashi and Hiro’s friends try their best to comfort him, but the only thing that makes him truly feel better is Tadashi’s latest invention, Baymax.
Baymax is a healthcare robot nurse that is meant to make people feel better. Baymax becomes Hiro’s distraction and helps him cope with the traumatizing situation. Unlike humans, Baymax cannot show any sort of emotion. Yet with excellent writing, and incredible indirect gestures Baymax seems to take on a very heartfelt character. The lovable, marshmallow-like robot becomes a part of Hiro’s team called Big Hero 6.
Although Big Hero 6 is an animated film it still carries all the elements needed to make a good movie. Big Hero 6 was well advertised by Disney, and had such a strong appeal that people were already falling in love with the story before they had even seen the movie.
Big Hero 6’s is geared toward young children, but it can be enjoyed at any age. Big Hero 6 left me talking about the movie days after I had first seen it. For me, the movie was so interesting because of how wonderfully written the story was.
The two central themes throughout the story are that you are never alone, and violence is never the answer. Hiro and his friends all suffer loss, yet they find comfort in each other. Hiro also feels the need for revenge and violence, but his friends pull him back from the dangerous edge.
The characters in Big Hero 6 propel the movie to an entirely different level. The characters overcome tragedy, and show people that true friendship can pierce through the vail of darkness any day. These positive messages gave the film an overall optimistic tone.
Furthermore, each of the characters in Big Hero 6 are very diverse. The idea that everyone is different is a key element to this film.
Big Hero 6 was an absolutely amazing film. The movie touches your heart in ways that you never could’ve expected. Big Hero 6 takes you on a wild journey of laughter and excitement.
