Mr. December – Robert Ilagan

If you had to pick anyone beside yourself to win, who would it be?

I would have to go with Rocco. He’s everything anyone could ask for. Such a handsome boy lemme tell ya.

What are your future plans?

Graduate from TU and live in a city.

What was your memorable high school experience?

Being in the pops concert. I’ve always loved to sing and to perform with amazing friends was just one of the greatest experiences of my life.

If you could give one piece of advice to underclassmen, what would it be?

Be yourself and know that’s good enough. Don’t let anyone put you down. If someone has the time to bully someone then they’re a loser. Wear whatever you want, say whatever you want to say, act however you feel like acting. Life is too short to be limited to other people’s standards.

What’s your go to Wawa order?

Burrito bowl with chipotle sauce and chicken strips, cherry Sweetart ropes, and a coconut Red Bull® (please sponsor me).

Favorite TV show?

Avatar: The Last Airbender. My favorite childhood show- I will love it until the day I die. Definitely gonna put my kids on.

Favorite Movie?

Your Name. Otaku moment.

Favorite music artist?

Tyler, the Creator. A close second would probably be Daniel Bandit.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Blonde by Frank Ocean just because it has so much variety and it really is timeless. With the homies? “Pink + White”! Wanna hear one of the greatest beat switches of all time? “Nights”! Just left the party, met someone cool, then realize they were using you? “Solo”! Wanna bawl your eyes out right after? “Ivy”! There is something for everybody on it.

If you were stranded on an island what are three things you would bring with you to survive?

A hatchet, a fire starter, and an old iPod with my favorite songs downloaded.

Most inspiring teacher that had an impact on you?

Ms. Kershaw, my middle school chorus teacher, she taught me that I should be happy with who I am no matter what anyone says.

Most embarrassing moment?

Crying in 7th grade over someone breaking my Rubik’s cube.

Favorite subject?

As of right now, my favorite subject is marine biology. It’s really relaxed but we also over cool concepts like how the oceans movement affects all life and other things like that.

If you could create a class to add to our school, what would it be?

A fashion class would be cool. Learning about proportions just really changed my whole perspective of how to put outfits together. Especially with being colorblind, all I mostly rely on are similar shades and how things fit.

If you had to spontaneously give a 20-minute presentation, what would it be on?

Why money doesn’t buy taste.

Dream car?

Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

If you could visit one foreign country, what would it be?

I’ve always wanted to go to Japan. Food, entertainment, clothes, style, etc. Japan literally has everything.

If you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?

It would have to be in NYC. One of the great fashion capitals of the world and the greatest city to skate in. So much culture packed into one city.

What’s your favorite pickup line?

My name is Rob but you can call me yours ;).

What’s your hidden talent?

Not really hidden but I can solve a Rubik’s cube under a minute.

If you can change lives with someone for a day, who would it be?

Tyler, the Creator because of how much control he has over his own life. He does what he wants and is also just an amazing artist.

If you won a million dollars, what would you spend it on?

Clothes, a car, and more clothes. Oh, also a Kapital Boro Denim Jacket (1st version).

Which charity did you choose?

The charity that I chose was Active Minds because they bring attention to mental health through education, research, and advocacy. They focus on teens and young adults where mental health is often very vulnerable. I know too many people who suffer from anxiety and depression. There are so many people that suffer from mental illnesses but are scared to open up and ask for help. Active Minds helps with these people and is removing the stigma around mental illness.
