“The Way I See It” Documentary Review
On Friday, October 16th MSNBC aired “The Way I See It,” a firsthand account of what made Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama the great men that they were as told through the eyes of each administration’s official White House photographer, Pete Souza.
The documentary tells the story of how Souza reached his position as the White House photographer, also working as a newspaper photographer and freelancer, and Obama’s official photographer during Obama’s years as a Senator.
The documentary started off with a look into what Souza did for the Reagan administration and continued to the years when Souza worked for the Obama administration.
With unlimited access into the daily life of President Obama, Souza was able to capture the business, lifestyle and playful events of the President during his years in office. The documentary showed what it was like for Souza to capture personal moments such as Obama playing in the snow with his kids but also events like the war-room scene during the time Bin Laden was killed.
Over the span of 102 minutes, this documentary is able to bring to the people a raw, emotional and genuine presentation of photographs, stories and video, showcasing beautiful moments in this time of dark and dreary political instability.
Souza, a now best-selling author and speaker, has spent the last four years of his life using the images of Obama to “shade” the current administration.
“The Way I See It” is a visual masterpiece that gives viewers a never-before-seen look at these two former presidents.
