Don Pablo’s Taco Tuesday – Taking Tex-Mex to New Levels

Don Pablo’s Tex-Mex Bar and Grill stands valiantly on a metaphorical hilltop of customer approval in the nearby town of Deptford. With its unwavering dedication to provide authentic Mexican cuisine, Don Pablo’s presents absolute satisfaction to its customers time and time again.

The genuine Spanish atmosphere provides a sense of comfort and reassurance among its patrons, but this atmosphere changes drastically on Tuesday nights.

“It’s competitive… it really is,” said Angelo Petrilli ’17, a loyal customer. “You walk in, sit down with your friends, pay a few dollars and shovel down as many tacos as you physically can.”

Tuesday nights are “Taco Tuesday”- all you can eat freshly made tacos for $9 dollars.

“I go with some guys I work with, and this one guy Andrew has the record- something like 14 tacos,” says Nick DeAngelis ’17.

Nine dollars for all you can eat tacos sounds like an amazing deal, but sometimes it can come with a dangerous price.

“I ate about 8 tacos a few Tuesdays ago,” begun DeAngelis. “When I woke up in the morning, I had terrible, terrible stomach pains… so bad that I couldn’t go to school.”

The ominous looming of free tacos speaks an obligational quest to the Taco Tuesday regulars. “All-You-Can-Eat” is taken literally.

“Sometimes, I eat so many tacos that I have to take my sweatshirt off, and if I have a friend with me who’s trying to ‘out-taco’ me, then it gets aggressive,” says Petrilli.

Gung ho comrades go toe-to-toe trying to eat more tacos than their buddies. Imagine a spirited, bloodthirsty competition of driven combatants just forcing beef and cheese down their throats.

“It’s cheap, the food is good and I get to mess around with my friends,” says Petrilli.

“I love it; I look forward to Tuesdays, honestly. The tacos are huge!” says DeAngelis.

Whether you go about your meal in an orderly fashion- slowly eating your tacos with love and care, or slam down tacos so fast you nearly eat the table, Don Pablo’s Taco Tuesday is a staple to every Mexican food-lover’s Tuesday night
