Shortened 2021 athletic season concludes

Concluding the 2020-2021 Winter athletic season, the Minutemen and Minutemaid athletic programs made their mark in a year with no true champions.

The abbreviated athletic season featured boys and girls bowling as well as boys and girls basketball.

The Minutemaid bowling team, under the direction of coach Nick Guerrieri, ended the season with a 5-2 record, finishing second in the American Division and third in the Olympic Conference. The highest scoring game of the season was from Grace Kim ’22, who posted a 263 score against Eastern on February 23.

The defending state champion Minutemen bowling team, coached by Guerrieri, ended the season with a 6-2 record, finishing first in the American Division and third in the Olympic Conference. The Minutemen’s top roller was Marcus Spann ’21, who rolled a 278 in the third game of their match on February 19 against Cherry Hill West.

Under the direction of head coach Matt Kiser, the Minutemen basketball team finished with a record of 5-10. The Minutemen were led by Drew Amos ’21, who averaged 17.8 points per game. He scored a season-high 33 in a win over Bishop Eustace, also making four 3-pointers. Liam Friel ’21 added 9.3 points per game, while Quamir Land ’22 averaged 7.9 points.

The Minutemaid basketball team, led by coach Jennifer Natale, concluded their season with a final record of 5-8. Jessica Lee ’21 averaged 9.9 points per game and Taylor Attanasi ’21 led the way at 10.2 per game.

Basketball teams did not compete for division titles in the Olympic Conference this past season.

Winter track, wrestling, gymnastics, girls volleyball and swim are currently competing and are looking to solidify strong performances.

Winter Track began their season on February 1 with the season ending on March 27.

Twp Swim started their season on February 1, coming to an end on March 27.

Gymnastics began on March 1 and will compete through April 24.

Wrestling began on March 1 and will conclude on April 24.

Girls Volleyball started practicing on March 1, running through April 24.

Baseball, softball, boys tennis, boys and girls lacrosse, golf and boys and girls track will follow on April 1 and will run through June 20 at the latest.
