It’s a Wonderful Life Review

Annika Vojnyk, Staff Writer

Once a year during the Christmas season my mom, my grandfather, and I watch one of my favorite Christmas movies. We have watched this movie every year since I was about six years old. This movie really hits home for me, and for a lot of people. I believe it’s very relatable.

Anyone who has ever experienced a day or a time in their life when unfortunate things kept happening to them and they felt like it just couldn’t get any worse, but it did, then they are able to relate to what the main character goes through in It’s a Wonderful Life. George Bailey (James Stewart) has plans to travel the world and go to college but life just seems to keep getting in the way. A simple mistake made by his Uncle Billy while visiting the bank almost sends George to jail. George is flooded with emotions and decides that everyone would just be better off if he was never born. An angel named Clarence (Henry Travers) is sent to Earth to make George’s wish come true, and he shows George a world where he never existed. George starts to realize how many lives he has changed and impacted, and how they would be different if he was never there.

The movie teaches you that even though everyone has their own problems throughout their life, life itself is truly wonderful.  This movie takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, and by the end, you’ll be reaching for the tissues. This movie is dear to my heart and reminds me that whenever I feel like nothing is going right, life is a gift.
