Volleyball battles through rebuilding
After a disappointing first round playoff defeat last year, the girls’ volleyball team was ready to bounce back.
Despite losing some stars to graduation, the team still posted a 13-10 record on the season.
“I think the team had a huge amount of talent this year,” said junior Sam Mendelson, “we’ve worked really hard together to achieve the same goal.” The goal was the same as it would be for any sports team- win.
The team currently sits at 5-5, so while they aren’t entirely slumped, there is room for improvement. However, they’ve heated up in the last few games, taking a win against the tough opponent of Seneca.
“I think we did start off a little rough, but we had a young team and picked up some tough wins as we started playing more as a team,” added senior Alyssa Fooks. Their wins started to add up, earning the team a place in states.
While the tournament run didn’t end in a trophy, it was a great experience for all of the players. They may not have ended in stellar fashion, but there’s no denying the talent on the team and the optimism they always hold.
