The Minutemaid soccer team is fighting with grit and determination this season. Sitting in third place in the Olympic conference with a 4-2-2 conference record, and a 9-2-2 overall record, the team is ranked eighth in South Jersey. The Minutemaids have been poised for a great year since the beginning of the season, and have shown themselves to be legitimate state championship threats. With no state championship in school history, and a wealth of talent, the team is hungrier than ever.

“We improved a lot this year. Our goal is to win the state championship,” said senior Danielle Long.

The team is led by senior captains Sarah Haggerty and Bridget Heist, and junior captains Emily Gray and Breana Winder. Gray and sophomore Natasha Munro lead the Maids in scoring with 8 goals apiece. Gray also has 17 assists to lead the team. Jordynn Stallard ‘19 keeps the defense strong, totaling 53 saves thus far in goal. The team is looking to improve on the already successful team from last year (14-6-3 including playoffs).

“We are better this year. Our team is improved overall, but our biggest improvement is scoring depth. We have many players capable of scoring and everyone is contributing to the offense,” said head coach Will Alvaro.

The Minutemaids’ season has been strong from the start. Their biggest win came when they went on the road to beat Shawnee 2-1, who is currently second in the Olympic conference. Even with success in the past, and the regular season coming to a rapid end, the team knows the toughest challenges are yet to come.

“Our biggest upcoming games will be in the Coaches Cup tournament and State tournament,” said Alvaro.

The Minutemaid soccer team is ready to make a deep playoff run. A talented roster, veteran coach, and a strong mental focus are all weapons in the expansive Minutemaid arsenal.

“Our goals are to finish out the season as Coaches Cup champions and Group 4 State champions,” said Alvaro.

Look for the Minutemaids to enjoy success in the playoff games to come.
