What is the charity you chose to represent?
Music & Memory charity because from such a young age, music has really touched me and helped me through critical points of my life. I have always loved music, and everything about it, and I think it’s such a powerful and healing language. I don’t know what I’d do without music. This charity helps those with cognitive abilities through specialized playlists, and brings back their spirits through song, and I love the mission they set out to accomplish!
Why do you best represent Washington Township?
Township is all about pride and being authentically you! Through the school, I have the honor of being able to sing in chorus, and acapella, and even have the pleasure of making it into all state! I love being able to express myself through the school’s music program, staying true to myself! I also think I embody Township because people see me and know me as a friendly face and a person they can rely on. I love making people feel safe around me and feel like they can tell me anything. I’m a very outgoing and kind person, and I’m always there for others no matter the circumstance, and for these reasons I believe I truly embody the Township spirit!
If you could pick anyone besides yourself to win, who would it be?
Emily Brown! I’ve known Emily since early elementary school, and she has always been the same kind, genuine person who I met back then. I love Emily’s heart, how she is kind to everyone around her, and always true to herself and others. Emily’s positive attitude towards life, and ability to joke in even the toughest of times, along with her willingness to help me whenever I’m going through something is truly admirable. I would be so proud of her and happy for her if she won, and I am so happy to be able to call Emily my friend!
Favorite food:
Dinosaur chicken nuggets with smiley fries
Favorite movie:
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Favorite music artist:
I could never pick just one, but I love Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Madison Beer
What TV show/movie character are you most like?
I’m a lot like Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. I think Hermione has a lot of attitude, however she cares a lot about school, her friends, and she is a hopeless romantic. I love Hermione because she has such a hard exterior, but once you get to know her, she is sweet. Just like Hermione, I care a lot about my friends and family, and would do anything to keep them safe and make sure they are okay. Furthermore, I care a lot about school, and keeping up my grades. I love to learn! I also think that like Hermione I am a hopeless romantic, I love love and I’ve always fantasized about a white castle wedding and just life with someone you love more than anything else.
What is your go-to Wawa order?
a 24oz caramel coffee with extra caramel, a side of bacon, and chicken strips/mac n cheese depending on my mood!
If you could give yourself one superpower, what would it be?
Travel in time. I love learning things about pop culture past, and just history in general. I think it would be so cool to go back in the day and watch a drive-in movie or watch an Elvis Presley concert! I find the past so fascinating, and I think it would be amazing to be able to go to any time and explore its culture and lifestyle.
What has been your most embarrassing moment at WTHS?
When I spilled red juice all over my light grey pants during lunch my sophomore year. My pants were completely stained, and I had to go to the nurse to get a new pair of pants! Not all bad though, because the pants the nurse gave me turned into my favorite PJ pants!
What has been one of the most memorable aspects of your high school experience?
All chorus events! I love the environment showing up to the school after hours, dressed up with my make-up done, knowing I’m about to sing with some of my closest friends. Everyone in chorus is so supportive and excited to see one another, so these events are always something I look forward to and something I will never forget!
If you could change one thing about the world you live in, what would it be?
The way some people see themselves. In life, especially at our age, I think a lot of people worry about what other people think and spend so much time comparing themselves to the pretty models they see online, and in TV shows, rather than truly appreciating themselves for what they are. I wish that everybody could see all their beauty for what it is and love themselves to the fullest. If everybody would love themselves just a little bit more, and feel more confident in who they are, I would be forever happy.
What advice would you give to underclassmen about high school? About life?
Everybody says it but get out there!! You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and high school is all about discovering yourself and living your life to the fullest, being a kid while you can! Go to that football game, go to that dance, audition for that dance or chorus solo, try out for the sports teams! There is a place and a person for everyone, and if you find the right people, doing everything you want won’t be as scary anymore. Enjoy every second of every moment because it really flies by. As for life advice, don’t search the crowd for a familiar face, it’s okay to let people come in and out of your life, at the end of the day do what’s best for you, and don’t let anybody tell you different.
What are your plans and goals for after high school?
I would like to go to PB Beauty School to acquire my nail license, so I can be an at home nail tech! I love making people feel good about themselves, and doing nails is something I’m passionate about and love to do! I also want to go to college for two years to gain an associate degree in business management!
What teacher or faculty member has made the biggest impact on your high school career?
Ms. Melson will forever have the most impact on not only my high school career, but also my life. Ms. Melson has taught me that it’s okay to be nervous, but that nerves should never stop me from trying to achieve my goals. There have been so many times I told her how nervous I was about a solo, or a performance, or just something going on in my life. Every time she offers me support and lets me know that I’m going to be okay and do amazing! I am forever grateful for her advice and will carry it with me wherever I go.
Who in your life has had the biggest influence on you?
My mom. My mom is such a strong woman and watching her makes me so excited for my future. My mom balances her demanding job, as well as life, having to provide for her four children, and providing a companion for my dad. I love watching my mom go through life, because no matter how tired she is after a 12-hour shift, or how early she has to wake up to drive me to random things, my mom always tries to make sure she does everything she can for me and my siblings. I am so proud of my mom for everything she does, and I will forever look up to her!
What is one thing you cannot live without?
On a serious note, I could never live without my family. When anything goes wrong, I know I have my family to rely on, and I’m so happy I can count on them. On a less serious note, I could never live without my hoodies! I am always cold, no matter the season, so cozying up around my house or just anywhere in general, I will always have a hoodie on!
What is something about you that most people do not know?
I’m a Tae Kwon Do black belt!
Describe yourself in three words:
dependable, nurturing, and compassionate
If you had to give a 20-minute presentation on a topic of your choosing, what would it be?
I would love to give a presentation on something stupid that would spark some sort of discussion. Something like, “is a hot dog a sandwich?” I think presentations that ask seemingly meaningless questions, but that still spark some passion are some of the best presentations!
What has been the best part about being on the Homecoming Court?
Getting closer with girls I didn’t know very well before. I really enjoy spending time with everyone on the court and getting to know things about them that I didn’t before! I also think it’s just so fun to be part of an environment in which the school focuses on and enjoys for a few weeks! It’s so fun hearing people are buying your shirt or want to wear your pin on their bag! Overall, I just love how fun and exciting the court is, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity!
