What is the charity you chose to represent?
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Since my freshman year, I have fought a silent battle with Crohn’s disease. Crohn’s and Colitis are chronic illnesses that are manageable, but not curable. They’re considered invisible diseases because people who are suffering typically don’t “look sick”. I hope to bring awareness to these diseases and begin conversations for people who fight internal battles like me. I hope that others suffering know that they’re not alone and that there is no reason to be embarrassed about the battles you fight. Your illness does not define your character, but builds it.
Why do you best represent Washington Township?
I try to treat everyone with kindness and help others get out of their comfort zone. This has helped me get more involved and become a leader in clubs at our school. These traits have helped me meet more people in and out of our school and create bonds that last a lifetime.

What teacher or faculty member has made the biggest impact on your high school career?
If I’m going to be completely honest, I cannot choose one. Mrs. Radziak has continuously pushed me to be a better version of myself through her “momma bear” talks and her unconditional love and support. Her positive nature and passion for her work truly impacts her students. Mrs. Ackley got me out of my shell, supported me and helped me through my battles, as well as gave me opportunities to prove myself as a leader. Ackley is always the first person to check on me and brings me a pack of Tums or ginger ale if needed. Mrs. Scardino has inspired me to do the things I’m passionate about and to work towards my future career. I am beyond grateful for all three of these teachers and the positive impact they’ve had on me.

If you had to give a 20-minute presentation on a topic of your choosing, what would it be?
Why Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey from Grey’s Anatomy should’ve been end-game. Their love was so powerful, and they didn’t deserve the ending the writers gave them.
