Precious Barclift

What is the charity you chose to represent?

The United Cerebral Palsy in honor of my late aunt who died at an early age because of this disease.

Why do you best represent WTHS?

I am very welcoming. I love meeting new people and learning new things about people and different cultures. I am also very friendly, love helping others to try new things as I do new things as well.

If you could pick anyone beside yourself to win, who would it be?

Probably Destini because she is honestly such an amazing friend. She’s always there for me when I need her, she gives me great advice, hypes me up as much as I hype her up too, and I feel like she’ll be great as homecoming queen.

Favorite food?

Sticky wings…..or any type of wings

Favorite movie?

The Little Rascals, Hairspray and Forrest Gump

Favorite music artist?

I don’t really have one, but I’d say Pop Smoke

Favorite quarantine activity?

Binge watching Netflix shows and movies for sure.

How have you gotten through quarantine and social distancing?

Honestly, quarantining hasn’t been a huge toll being that I usually stay in my room and go out every once in a while pre-corona, but social distancing has been a little hard being that I want to hug my friends and family, but I cant since we don’t know who has corona.

What has been your most embarrassing moment at WTHS?

My daily falls over hurdles at hurdle practice lol. There’s never a day in practice where I could go without tumbling over a hurdle.

What has been one of the most memorable aspects of your high school experience?

Honestly making homecoming court with these amazing ladies would probably be the most memorable aspect of high school because I moved to township sophomore year from New York, and after 3 years of being here I made a positive affect on people to actually nominate me for homecoming. It’s unbelievable, and I appreciate it so much.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To be honest I wouldn’t change much about me because everyone is unique and has flaws and beauties of their own, so wanting to change or changing you’d never know how that’d affect you. But if I had to change one thing it would be how shy I am at first until someone gets to know me because I feel as if that prevents me from making friendships.

What advice would you give to underclassmen about high school? About life?

Just go for it and don’t be shy because that always holds you back. Like my dad says “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed” so if you hold back and are too shy, you’ll let opportunities pass by.

What are your plans and goals for after high school?

After high school I do want to go to a 4-year college, but I’m not sure what I want to major in. I have a whole bunch of things I love doing, and it’s hard for me to pick just one. I love forensics, graphic illustration, law, interior design and business.

What teacher or faculty member has made the biggest impact on your high school career?

I would say Ms. Mason being that she’s my social justice teacher in a class where we’re able to talk about injustices that have both happened and are happening in the world, and I’m able to express myself. Not only that, but she is able to express her opinions too. She makes it an experience where I’m not scared to speak what I think.

Who in your life has had the biggest influence on you?

To be honest a lot of people have influenced me in my life whether it was for the better or worse. I’ve learned from the people who influenced me both good and bad, so everything and everyone played a role in my life.

What is one thing you cannot live without?

Probably my phone just because I’m able to do so much things with it and it allows me to connect to both friends and family.

What is something about you that most people do not know?

Most people don’t know I’m from NY unless I told them or they can tell from the accent they say I have lol.

Describe yourself in three words:

Motivated, compassionate, and driven

If you could bring one person, thing, and appliance to a deserted island, what would it be?

I would probably bring my best friend, a load of snacks and my phone because my best friend would keep me company and we would have so much fun. You can never go wrong with food and can never go wrong without your phone as well. You can watch TV, play games etc.

What has been the best part about being on the Homecoming Court?

Meeting these amazing 11 girls has been the best part because most of them I’ve never talked to before or seen before, but after this experience I’ve gained new friends. We’ve become so much closer being that we’re all going through these things together. They’re all such amazing people, and I’m so happy I get to share this experience with them.
