With the much anticipated game day approaching, excited juniors and seniors prepare for the big night, Powderpuff. Fighting through the cold to capture as many flags as possible on Nov. 23rd, 2015, and practicing for weeks to build strength and stamina, the 11th and 12th grade girls at Washington Township High School prepare to take the field and claim victory for their grade.

With the boys dressed in their classy booty shorts and leggings, they cheer on the sidelines and perform a halftime routine to support the girls as they fight to the death for the winning title. Many Juniors and Seniors are set on winning, and with the help from designated teachers and school staff, the annual Powderpuff game is sure to be another intense one.

“ Powderpuff is an amazing experience, although it gets competitive and sometimes brutal, the intensity and tension between teams only adds to the fun of the game.” Kaeley Bogan ‘17 said.“Working together as a team and meeting new people from your grade is also a great part of the activity and makes it worth the time, for sure.”

With only a few wins for the juniors under their belt, the motivation and enthusiasm is immense for the athletes and team members who are determined to take home the Junior win.

“Winning would be great! The whole fun of the game is just the fact that we are girls playing what is typically a man’s sport, and coming together as a team to go out and support each other, but winning would be a nice bonus.” Theresa Arocena ‘17 said.

As for Seniors, winning Powderpuff would be a telltale sign that their last year at school will be a great one.

“ Winning isn’t the most important thing, it’s really about spending time with your grade and having fun, but this year hands down, the seniors will take the win.” Bria Diemer ‘16 said.

With both sides set on taking the ball to the end zone and capturing the higher score at the event, it is sure to be a neck-and-neck battle.

Stepping onto the field in red and blue jerseys with pride in their hearts and victory in their sights, the Juniors and Seniors are prepared to do whatever it takes.

“We have worked so hard as a team and done whatever we can to get ready for the game, I am really looking forward to Tuesday and eager to see how it will play out.” Casey Spencer ‘17 said.
