Rally the Romance

When the general population discovers an amazing book and makes it a best seller, it is often produced as a movie. Books like The Hunger Games, If I Stay, The Girl on the Train, etc. have all been produced as movies. Readers want to see these stories come to life. One author who has had incredible success in this area is Nicholas Sparks, a romance novelist.

Sparks has written quite a few stories over the years– A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, Dear John, The Last Song and more.

In recent years, at least one of his novels has been turned into movie each year. In 2010 both Dear John and The Last Song came out. 2012 gave us The Lucky One, 2013 was Safe Haven, 2014 had The Best of Me, 2015 made The Longest Ride, and 2016 (back in Feb) we were given The Choice.

Sparks first book- The Notebook- came out in ‘96, followed by Message in a Bottle in ’98 and A Walk to Remember in ’02. It wasn’t until ’04 that The Notebook was made into a movie. This caused a chain reaction with its success making it possible for us to have more of his novels as movies.

Each of his novels focuses on falling in love. From Noah and Allie, to Landon and Jaime, to Will and Ronnie, and to Luke and Sophia. They all have their own story with their own difficulties. Sparks captures real life problems and puts them in perspective with a twist of a romantic’s POV.

If you’re looking for a good old-fashioned romance novel, Nicholas Sparks is where you should be looking. Each and every single one of his books is a great read for whenever you have the time to read and relax. Even if you don’t feel like picking up the book, watching the movie is just as fantastic. The real question is where to start.

I recommend A Walk to Remember. That’s where it all started for me. Sparks draws readers in with the high school setting and the school’s bad boy. As cliché as it sounds, it’s a fantastic book that digs right into high school hardships juggled with controversial relationships. He brings out how religion effects certain people and families through the struggles they fight. A Walk to Remember is an endearing read that will leave you with tears pouring out of your eyes like a waterfall.
