Free agents can be game changers come playoff time

Fantasy Analysis Mike Renzulli ’17

In this rendition of the fantasy playoffs, I will state of whom are some waiver wire targets that can carry your team to the championship and/or fill in a void in your roster due to injury.

Waiver Wire Targets:

Bilal Powell-

With Matt Forte exiting early against the 49ers with a knee injury, Powell stepped right in and performed admirably.  Powell totaled 179 scrimmage yards (145 rushing, 34 receiving) and 2 touchdowns in his superb effort against a weak 49ers front seven. The extent of Forte’s injury is currently unknown, however, I feel as if they will be cautious with their veteran since the Jets have been eliminated from playoff competition. Enter Powell, a younger option of whom the Jets would love to give him an extended workload, as they realize this aging roster needs massive changes in order to head in the right direction in lieu of next season.

Ty Montgomery-

Montgomery busted out in a big way, rushing 16 times for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns. It seems like Montgomery will be looked to be getting a sizable workload at the running back position, as Rodgers seemed very hampered in frigid temperatures with his calf injury. Montgomery is owned in 57 percent of leagues, so if he’s still available, add him immeadiately.

Dontrelle Inman:

The former CFL star is one of the only players left in the Chargers offense who remains healthy. Inman has been consistent as of late posting at least 12 points or more in PPR formats (10 or more in standard formats). Tyrell Williams hasn’t looked 100% healthy and Rivers needs to distribute the ball to someone as he will be looking to through early and often against a very leaky Raiders secondary. Inman should be considered as a flex option with a high ceiling.
